Media guide

What is happening on Calle San José?

What is the main issue?

Calle San José combines three fronts: heavy bus traffic through a historic axis, Specific Amendment No. 25 next to protected homes, and the need to implement the pedestrianisation already planned to protect the historic centre.

Is the association against public transport?

No. Residents defend public transport, but ask that heavy buses should not run through a narrow and vulnerable historic street when an alternative route proposed by the Town Council already exists.

What changed with the municipal architect’s report?

The 2017 municipal technical report already warned of vibrations transmitted to foundations, micro-cracks, detachments and noise levels above those permitted in a residential area.

Why is the bus-route change important?

It marks a relevant political change: the Mobility councillor has announced that the bus route will change so it no longer passes through Calle San José. Residents welcome the announcement but expect dates, a final route and real implementation.

What role does Culture play in MP25?

Culture has recognised heritage impact in the NHT-BRL area and conditioned the penthouse floor on a visual impact study before licensing. For the association, this reinforces the need to review MP25 before final approval.
