Blocking criticism

The Calle San José Residents’ Association states that both its account and its president’s personal account were blocked from the institutional Tourism account after a sequence of criticism concerning the historic centre, heavy traffic and a municipal technical report.

What happened

This is not just an Instagram button

The residents’ criticism concerned heavy traffic, buses and a municipal architect’s report on vibrations and deterioration in historic streets.

The association states that after the criticism the institutional profile became unavailable from its account while remaining accessible to other users.

It also states that the president’s personal account was blocked despite having had no prior interaction with the Tourism profile.

The democratic question is whether an institutional channel may selectively exclude lawful criticism and, above all, who decided it, why and under what rule.
